This activity is based on footage from a 2022 event with Adjunct Clinical Associate Professor Natasha Michael, where she focused on breakthrough cancer pain as a separate entity from cancer pain.

By the end of this course, participants should be able to:

  1. Describe the heterogeneous nature of breakthrough cancer pain intensity and its clinical characteristics
  2. Describe the differences between the pharmacokinetic profiles of rapid-onset and short-acting opioids
  3. Assess and choose an appropriate treatment based on an individual's pain profile
